The discussion includes pharmacokinetics, the mechanism in which a drug travels in the body and pharmacodynamics, how a drug affects the body. It is important for nurses and nursing students to be knowledgeable in these concepts to understand more why a drug is given to a patient, how these drugs work to resolve the patient's symptoms or illness and also to be able to educate their patient and make them understand the importance of taking their prescribed medications religiously.
